Earle wings in for England tour of Argentina

Three of Saracens brightest talents could make their international debut this summer, with Nathan Earle joining fellow teammates Alex Lozowski and Nick Isiekwe as part of the England’s 31-man squad to face Argentina later this summer.

Earle has been with Sarries since the age of 14, a pacey player capable of playing anywhere across the back-line, an England call-up is just the next step in what has been an impressive career so far.

After making his debut as an academy player in 2012 against Worcester Warriors, Earle impressed in early outings before starring at the 2014 U20 World Cup. England won the tournament with Earle proving a star man, scoring six tries in five matches.

The following season, however, began with disappointment as the youngster was side-lined with an Achilles injury in the first game of the following season while out on loan at Bedford Blues.

He returned before making a successful loan switch to London Scottish. A further loan spell came with Canterbury in New Zealand where he helped them win the prestigious Ranfurly Shield, their first in six years.

Staying until the end of the season in autumn 2016, he returned to the Saracens senior set-up ready to take on the challenge of first-team rugby.

Strong showings have set the 22-year-old in good stead, with 8 Premiership appearances since making the move back to England, Earle is firmly on the right track to fulfil his potential and this England call-up will feel like vindication for his hard work and performances.

Speaking earlier today, Earle spoke of his excitement at being called up and says he expects to learn a lot while away in South America:

“It’s a bit crazy, I’m a bit taken aback at the call obviously. But I’m very, very, very happy. Hopefully I get a chance in the tests but I just want to train hard and train well then fingers crossed I get picked”

“I want to learn how to act in that environment and what’s expected of us to get to stay in that environment for a long-period of time. There are players who’ll be there who have 50+ caps and they have a few hundred caps between them so they’ll be good people to learn off and hopefully they can help me be there for a long time”

“I’m pleased to be joined by Nick (Isiekwe), and Alex (Lozowski) obviously. Nick’s done amazingly well with the U20s and hopefully he does the same in the senior squad because he’s a great player with a massively bright future”
