Bath vs Saracens
Bath vs Saracens is the opening fixture for this round, taking place on Friday night. Saracens have started the domestic season with three wins in four matches and they travel to a Bath team who have had an inconsistent start to the season, with two wins and two losses so far – although they did impress with their 22-13 victory over Northampton Saints last time out. We expect Saracens to come out all guns blazing for this one, with Jackson Wray, who is second in the most tackles table, to once again impress!
Prediction: Saracens win
Northampton Saints vs Leicester Tigers
Northampton Saints have continued their rich vein of form from last season and currently find themselves level on points with league leaders Bristol. They take on a Leicester Tigers side who have won just one of their four games so far. After a 36-11 defeat to London Irish in round four, the Tigers will be hoping for a turn of fortunes against the Saints. If they are to pull off a shock, they will need to control the electric pairing of Tom Collins and George Furbank, who have been a formidable duo in the early weeks of the season.
Prediction: Northampton Saints win
Worcester Warriors vs Sale Sharks
Sale Sharks are currently third in the table and come into week five on the back of an impressive 28-18 victory over Wasps. They are the third highest scorers in the league, and they boast the league’s top points scorer in Robert du Preez. The South African has started the season in superb form with eight penalties, six conversions, a drop goal and a try to his name. Will he be able to continue his excellent run of form away at Worcester on Saturday? We wouldn’t bet against it!
Prediction: Sale Sharks win
Exeter Chiefs vs Wasps
Wasps have won only once in their opening four fixtures, defeating Harlequins 22-19 in Round Two. 2018/19 runners-up Exeter have two victories to their name and will be looking to use their home advantage to move closer to the top two this week. The last time these sides met, Wasps pulled off a 26-19 victory, but we expect Exeter to win a closely fought contest this time around.
Prediction: Exeter Chiefs win
Bristol Bears vs London Irish
Top of the league, with three wins from four, Bristol have started the season in fine form and come into this game on the back of a last-minute winning try in their game against Exeter last time out. New Zealander Charles Piutau has been in particularly fine form and it will be interesting to see if they can maintain their excellent start to this campaign. London Irish find themselves in mid-table with a couple of victories to their name and this will be a tough away fixture for the Exiles!
Prediction: Bristol Bears win
Harlequins vs Gloucester Rugby
It’s been a tricky start to the season for Harlequins with three defeats from four. They suffered their first home league defeat since April in Round Four against Worcester and will be hoping to get their stuttering start to the season back on track against Gloucester in Round Five. Gloucester come into this one on the back of a nine-point defeat to Saracens in their last game but they will be buoyed by their victories against Sale and Wasps last month.
Prediction: Harlequins win
